Postgraduate Workshops

Dear Masters and PhD candidates

As explained during Orientation, we are offering you participation in a series of postgraduate workshops, which will begin during the first week of March. Please monitor this website and notices at our postgraduate offices for details. There will be 6 sessions of about 2-3 hours each, once a week.

Howard College Campus:

Final session on Proposal review

  •   NAB Boardroom
  •   TBC

Howard College Campus:

  •   23 April Thursday

Participation is voluntary, but highly recommended. Everyone should attend at least the very first and the last session.

The first two sessions will be facilitated by the Academic Leader Research (Prof Sabine Marschall), focused on introductions, networking, the postgraduate processes and opportunities. Sessions 3-4 will focus on the proposal development process, whereby Masters and PhD candidates will be engaged separately. You will be required to do some work on your own in between these sessions. During the term break, you should work on your draft proposal. Session 5 (after Easter) will engage with Ethical Clearance. All candidates should attend this session! During the following week, you will exchange your draft proposals and peer-review each other’s work (at home). The final session will focus on discussing the reviews, draw some conclusions and point to the way forward. We advise that you make use the resources shared via Learn@UKZN.

Attendance is strongly advised.

Regards
