Social Policy is an interdisciplinary and applied academic field of study, which is concerned with the ways in which societies meet human needs; social justice; and, individual and collective wellbeing. Social Policy analyses the different roles of governments, the family, civil society, the market, and international organisations, in providing public services and support, in response to the global challenges of social, demographic and economic change; and, of poverty, migration and globalisation.
Applicants who possess a credit weighted average of above 60 percent in any cognate Honours degree, will be considered for the Coursework Masters programme. A credit weighted average of above 65 percent is required for the full research masters and the PhD programme.
Modules for the Courework Masters Programme
The modules which comprise the coursework component of the Masters programme are: Governance and Public Participation (SOCP 802); The Political Economy of Basic Service Provision (SOCP 809); Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law (CTPS807). The programme will be hosted by way of block sessions (TBC).
